Fire and Ice

Corick growled, shaking before thudding to the dust.
"Aaaab...sol..."
He groaned, closing his eyes.

Drawing Corick back, Brendan sighed.
Abso-fucking-lutely PERFECT.
He thought bitterly, sending Manue back out.

Manue stared across at the Litwick, blinking.

Uri grinned when he saw Manue, glancing at his trainer as he waited orders. "Lit?" he hummed, as he stood there; a lazy look in his eyes.

Aria smiled softly. Yea...This battle was in the bag, there was no way that Brendan could win now. "Flame Burst, again. It's time to end this battle."

The Litwick nodded as he turned to face the Sableye; summoning the ball of fire over his head again. "Wick."
'Sorry.'

And with that, Uri sent the Flame Burst at Manue.

Brendan took slow, lagging steps across the battle field, kneeling down beside Manue, who had fallen to the floor. Scooping his arms under the purple figure, he lifted the Sableye close to his chest as he sat on his knees. He could feel the heat from the attack resonating through his jacket and across his skin. For a while, the red-headed trainer sat there holding Manue with his eyes closed tight. Opening his eyes, he gave a light choking noise and looked at the Litwick.
"Good job, Uri."
He said softly, then looked at Aria.
"And you did a good job, too. It takes a lot for a trainer to be that good with their Pokemon."
He added, staggering to his feet.
"Later."
He muttered, turning towards the door and walking into the halls.

Aria frowned when she saw Brendan suddenly turn and leave, and jumped into the battle field. She waved at Lamya and Sunny to follow her; only stopping to pick up Uri who also was wearing a frown. "He-Hey! Wait up!" Aria called as she caught up to him. She slowed down to a walk beside him, sighing as she hugged Uri close to her chest. "I know it can't easy to see them faint like that..." she said, her voice growing soft. She had heard part of Brendan's story when she had been staying in Vermillion City, but she had never been fully aware of why Brendan cared so much about his Pokemon, but she knew that he hated watching them faint. "But they did a wonderful job; I was unsure of the outcome myself for a while there..." She paused, glancing behind her to see if Sunny had followed. Hopefully Sunny would know what to say as she was closer to Brendan. "I know that they lucky to have their trainer and that they look up to you, and that they won't be ashamed that they lost this battle, but just see it as time for growing." She grew quite, glancing at Manue. She gently rubbed the fainted Sableye's head with a sigh. "Come on, we should get them to a Pokemon Center."

Sunny stood up and walked to the pair of trainers. "Great job you two!" Ninetales followed behind, trotting in a carefree manner. "It was a tight one for a while. Too bad Perish Song didn't quite work. I know you tried hard, Brennie." She added in, her expression becoming soft. "But next battle, show your opponent what you can really do." A mischievous grim came I her face as she did this, and she gave Manue a pat on the head as well.
