A pumpkin was going around the dock, floating up to people and whispering, Gourgeist in the spookiest voice the Pokemon could muster, before flames flicked out of the jack-o-lantern's mouth and the Pokemon floated away slowly. It was a shame Halloween had already passed, because then the Pokemon's behavior would have been completely normal, and Gwen wouldn't have to fight the blush that rose to her cheek as the creature continued the incredibly embarrassing act. Though, the red eyed girl knew better than to challenge the Pokemon. It was just too stubborn to allow Gwen to win.
All year, her Gourgeist was have been bursting with excitement to scare people on the day it was considered not freaky and annoying. The whole month, Gwen could practically feel the anticipation from the Gourgeist. Instead, the creature had almost died from boredom on the boat the night of All Hallow's Eve. Or at least that's what it seemed like, from what Gwen could tell.
The small girl had also been forced to suffer, waiting for days as she traveled all the way from Lavender Town to the Academy. Gourgeist wasn't the only one who missed her favorite holiday, but that wasn't the only torture Gwen had to endure. She had been waiting months to come to this school, and the last few days had been the hardest part to bare. Even if she didn't look like much, Gwen was one of the strongest trainers from home. Knowing she had already battled with everyone even remotely close to her purple town, she decided she wanted to go somewhere where she knew there would always be a challenge awaiting her. Everyone at this school was extremely talented, and Gwen was ready for the competition. When she had explained this all to her mother, she had grudgingly let her little baby leave home and come to the Academy.
So here she was, following her Gourgeist around the dock, trying to find her dorm. Or the administration office. Or anything. She didn't want to admit it, but she was completely lost.
Pushing a white lock of hair behind her ear, she pushed on forward, trying not to appear completely clueless, although she figured she was failing miserably as she looked from sign to sign, constantly peeking at a map, and trying to make sense of everything without drawing attention to herself- and again, failing miserably. How could one possibly look covert with a floating pumpkin trailing after you, sitting on your luggage and occasionally leaving to go 'terrify' an innocent bystander?

A floating pumpkin was more than likely the most surprising thing of anyone's day. Blaire sure experienced that when she saw the gourd floating around a white-haired girl by the Eastern Dock, where the fiery trainer was taking a walk. Incredibly curious now, she hurried over to stand right in front of the girl and her Pokémon. "Hey there!" she called cheerfully, waving a hand in greeting. "My name's Blaire. Blaire Adenhart. What's your name?" She could have just left the questioning at that, but her mind was already way past it at that point, so she now decided to turn her attention to that strange floating pumpkin Pokémon. She had never seen something quite like it. "And who's this little cutie?" For now, she would call it Pumpkinface. Pumpkinface was so cute, with it's bang-like hair and all that. She had to remind herself that she was talking to the trainer, not the Pokémon, so she quickly stood back up and faced the white-haired girl with a smile.

Upon seeing the girl approach, Gourgeist cackled and floated forward, circling the stranger cautiously, occasionally whispering, Gourgeist before lighting up the lantern and studying her some more. Gwen smiled apologetically, gesturing the Pokemon towards her. Reluctantly the creature obeyed, but it kept it's eyes trained on Blair.
"Gourgeist, could you at least try to be polite?" She asked the creature in a small, exasperated voice, as if this was something she constantly had to deal with. Looking up at Blair, she smiled again. "Nice to meet you Blaire. I'm Gwen Lee." She saw no point in addressing herself as Gwenifer. No one called her that aside from her grandparents, or her mother when she was really upset. The red eyed girl met the yellow eyes of her Pokemon and laughed lightly. "This little cutie is Georgie, my Gourgeist. Sorry if she was bothering you." Gwen added, biting her lip. "She tends to do that."
Despite her seemingly annoyed words, Gwen couldn't possibly stay upset at the Pokemon, who she considered more of a friend than a pet.

Watching the Pokémon circle around her body, whispering Gourgeist in an ominous tone, Blaire couldn't help but to break out in a wide smile. So it was a Gourgeist, then? Its attempts at being spooky was so adorable, she just wanted to give it a hug. "A Gourgeist, huh? I've never seen one of them before. What region is she from? What region are you from?" The questions, as usual, just came pouring out before she could stop herself. That would have to be something she needed to work on. "Oh, and she's no bother at all. She's so cute: how can she be?" Maybe she was being too forceful. A worried look crossed her face at the thought. She didn't want to scare off the poor girl when she was just getting to know her.
